Ten days ago I had an LN2 session together with this Opteron 148; finally today I’ve the time to write a post here and talk about that.

.:. SETUP:
CPU: Opteron 148 cabrio @1.5*123% volt – CABYE 0536GPMW
cooling: Guglio’s CPU pot 2.0 (CPU) and 1.0 (RAM)
MB: DFI nForce 4 Ultra-D – bios 623-2
RAM: Corsair PC3500C2 2×256 MB :: Winbond BH-5 – yellow slots
VGA: nvidia 6200 LE 256 MB PCI-E
HDD: Kingston SSDnow 60 GB sata2
PSU: PCP&C 1200
OS: 2k3 server TW

The CPU is really maxed, no one MHz more is possibile so to improve the performance I had to go a bit out of the usual schemes.
I took out the second CPU LN2 pot and used it to freeze the Corsair, thanks to -190° C I was able to bench all the way at more than 280 MHz 1.5-2-2-3 1T at 3.8 + 0.03 volt.

.:. Pifast :: 35.14s :: Opteron 148 @ 3413.4 MHz :: Corsair PC3500 @ 284.4 MHz 1.5-2-2-3 1t 3.8 + 0.03 volt

Working with all this old school stuff was really funny and brings back the real spirit of overclocking.
Gotta try some more CPUs and possibly a 2×512 MB kit of Winbond BH-5, right now I’m 1 minute and 25 seconds away from my main obejective: crash the 20min wall in super-pi 32M.
